so when you hear...
So this past weekend I had to buy new work clothes.
Mostly because I've been enrolled in a leadership program that requires the donning of official "business attire" which of course, is a stretch for my standards of Old Navy khakis and Payless flats.
Also because most other additions to my "work" wardrobe were purchased around 4 years ago...when I was pregnant. And got my first job that had a dress code. Hencetotherefore, they have lasted AS long as I could make them last and some of them are not getting off the hook (all puns intended) anytime soon because I think clothes should last FOREVER.
So, I have to get real clothes. Which I did. On Saturday.
in the midst of the craziest chaotic attempt to accomplish anything in the midst of the smallest time frame ever... courtesy of Breezy.
So we had a baby shower to go to... and I needed dress clothes. So we pack up all the babies, pick up the Aunt Misch and decide to knock it all out at the mall. We arrive at the mall after 12. The shower is at 2. We must feed 3 adults and 3 squirmy hungry toddlers at the approach of naptime with no intention of letting them nap. And I must find dress clothes. Because, nothing says professional like snatching the first 5 things you see in the store and calling it a day.
Actually, it wasn't that simple.
I was COMPLETELY overwhelmed at the business dress options... obviously, I want comfort and to meet the "standard" but at the same time not be a fuddy duddy. (because people still use that word, obviously)
So I've been in the store about 3 minutes and Mom comes up and is all "you ready?" and I'm all "I'm SO OVERWHELMED!" so we powershopped in about 10 minutes. And I am OH so thankful for the help or I would still be curled in the corner of Belk rocking and singing to myself.
So anyway, since we are on time crunch for baby shower, there is no perusing the Sale racks...we are buying full price-right-this-minute because we are gonna be late.
I get to the checkout while Mama & Mischa are wrangling babies back to the car.
The lady says "Would you like a Belk card?"
Me: "No thanks, I'm running late"
The lady: looks at the stack of clothes "Well, you're gonna need it. Are you sure?"
Me: "No, I really can't. I have 3 babies in the car and I'm late"
For the record, when she says "you're gonna need it"... that's probably not a great sign for your checkbook register.
Just.. you know, for the record.

girls
Ummmm...why do all my pictures keep blacking or bleaching out on upload?
grrrr
this doesn't help my process.
oh, here are the girls brushing their teeth, you can't see it, but they are both on a tiny little step stool that is slap FULL with them both on there!
the funkiest of funks
well, this blog is a big fat flop so far this year!
Yuck!
It's almost February and I think it is more than safe to say that I've been in the funkiest of funks this month.
Maybe its the rush of the new year.
Maybe, well, honestly I just don't know.
Some days I think "oh, I should so blog about this..." but then I get home and don't have the words to make the story sound even close to what it should be.
Then I look at the fact that I've only uploaded 30 pictures for this whole month...there goes using picture inspired posts!
So what have I been doing?
Waaaay too much TV watching... Big Bang Theory, holy smokes...too funny! House (just picked it back up on Mondays, NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles on Tuesdays, new Big Bang on Thursdays, and if I get to swing it, Say Yes to the Dress & Four Weddings on Fridays. This TV in the bedroom thing is terrible for any type of independent thought process after the girls go to bed.
Planning a wedding. That's not mine, obviously, but has been SOOO much fun! I am really glad that Pinterest and Etsy weren't around when I got married because good grief at all the choices and the inspirations! But at the same time, so much cute stuff out there! And really, I'm not planning it.. I'm just answering any and all texts or emails from the bride who has been so kind to indulge me in the planning process!
Trying to be more present with my family.. and more intentional in my attention with them...which means, little to no computer time until after the girls are in bed.
Work, work and work.. Monday - Friday, 8 - 5... this whole grown up thing can stink at times.
and mostly, thinking about how I should be blogging but haven't been... but then not knowing where to start!

Hayley-ism
This morning:
Hayley: Mama?! Its not cowboy day at school...why do I have on cowboy boots? (this is after she has had them on for 45 minutes)
Me: Because I picked them out for you...because they were cute with your dress
Hayley: "but its not cowboy day!"
Hayley: I spy with my little eye.... an airplane!
...
Hayley: Here Mama...take my oogoggles... now, what do you spy with your BIG eye?
