letter

Dear Mexican Restaurant that is Coming To Arlington,

I don't even know your name but I'm pretty sure I will love you. I didn't know you were coming to town until yesterday, but I think you need to know that I would like you to open as of yesterday. I have not been able to get over my excitement of your presence since I heard the news. Yes, I realize that is probably very, very sad in the realm of things, however, I currently have very limited lunch options and none of them (while tasty when needed) really hit the spot. Please, please, please make sure your cheese dip and chips are tasty and that your taco salads and nachos are above par. If so, you will have my undivided lunch devotion.

Sincerely,
meghan

get serious

y'all... Arlington is getting a Mexican restaurant.

yes huh.

I will be broke soon.

true story

Saturday, Hayley, Bowen, Aunt Mischa and Breezy and I loaded up and took off to Dothan for some baby registry fun. (You can now find Baby Smith at Babies R Us and Target).

On the way over to Dothan we were eating our very nutrious slaved over the stove all morning lunch.... from McDonalds. (had you there for a minute didn't I???)

Anywho, we were driving along and Hayley either asked for something or did something and I responded with  " No ma'am. We are not." and she asked again and I said "No, No ma'am".

To which she looked me in the eyes, with her serious face and said....

" No say 'no ma'am' Mama say 'yes ma'am' "

oh no she didn't

oh yes she did

Living with Immediacy

Our God is greater, our God is stronger

God, You are higher than any other

Our God is Healer, awesome and power

Our God, Our God...

And if Our God is for us, then who could ever stop us

And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?

-Chris Tomlin

Living with immediacy… its something we talk often of in our Bible studies, Sunday school lessons and sermons. Taking a hold of our faith and putting it in the foremost of our thoughts and actions throughout each and everyday. Living with a purpose that is so clearly Christ that it reflects in our every day living and echoes through our every day voices.

Often times we embrace this faith-based living in the days or weeks after we experience God in a new way, perhaps through a Bible study or retreat, through a book or devotion, or through the witnessing of another. If you’ve ever been around a youth group after a summer camp, you’ve seen the immediacy in their eyes. Its easy to get wrapped up in God when we set aside a time, a day, a week to be all about Him. Just as its easy to get wrapped up in the world in which we practice our daily lives.

But God has so much more for us than easy, content living. We know that the Bible does not promise us anything less than trials and struggles during our earthly walk. It would be unfair of us to expect anything less. We have to fight for our faith. Every day. Every moment. Believing in Christ and turning your life over to His will is just the beginning. Its not the end all of a faith journey that gives you a “free pass’ to heaven. Its step one in a lifetime commitment to let go of ourselves and embrace Christ. Choose Christ. Choose love. Choose goodness. Guard our hearts. Guard our tongues. Be deliberate in our actions. Love always, speak slowly, pray much.

If our God is for us, which we know that He is, then there is nothing other than ourselves standing in our way. What a radically different world this would be if all believers could believe that simple truth. Life will be hard, there will be struggles, there will be circumstances we don’t understand, situations that we don’t like. Prayers will be answered, prayers seemingly go unheard. Life will get busy, babies will cry, groceries will need buying, grass will need mowing, errands will need running. Let us not get so distracted by our to do list that we forget how immediate our faith should be. Our God is GREATER, STRONGER, HIGHER than any other. What could stand against us?

oh remembered something

this is not the funny story I had in mind, however...

this morning hayley burped...out her bottom...but she calls it a burp and we let her.

anywho, she burped... looked me dead in the eyes and said "hayley burp...scuse you mama" and then grinned an evil grin.

somehow, that "excuse ME" thing has escaped her.

yesterday

yesterday Hayley had the funniest conversation with us.

for the life of me I can't recall it

which means I can't share it

I'm waay too young to be this crazy

hayley-ism

Your weekly installment:

"monst cook" - translates to "cookie monster"
"button bell" - "belly button"
"cheese popsicle" - that would be string cheese. I'm guessing it was a product of her deduction skills since it is cold (like a popsicle) and wrapped in plastic (like a popsicle).
"funk chick" - we've taught her to cheer - "how funky is your chicken?"
"loo goose" - "How loose in your goose"
com mone bocats - "Come on might Bobcats"
"shake boose" - "And shake your caboose!"
pejajon (sounds alot like pejamo, to which I often respond with "pajamas???") - "Peter, James and John" as in "Peter and James and John in the sailboat..."

newsy news

  1. Yesterday, Hayley wore big girl panties for several hours and didn't have an accident. We had 4 successful potty trips during the big girl panties evening.
  2. This morning, Hayley told Sha Sha (for the very first time) that she had to go potty. (She's only been going when Sha Sha asks her if she needs to).
  3. Last night and this morning Hayley wore big girl panties over her pull-up. Its hard to explain why she can wear them awake but not asleep, so we compromised with both.
  4. For the record, even the small panties are too big for her little tail.
  5. Bowen can not decide if she wants to get up just once a night (which is fabulous, obviously) or if she'd rather get up twice a night and stay up for 1 hour and 30 minutes on the second get-up (not so fabulous).
  6. I'm raising money for Relay for Life... give me some of yours.
  7. Michael accepted the Pastor's position at Bluffton Baptist Church.... I guess that makes me a pastor's wife... and us officially "bi-vocational"
  8. We moved our letter to Bluffton Baptist Church this past Sunday (as a part of the statement above).
  9. When we got to BBC Sunday, they had collected new toys for the nursery, put batteries in all the noisy toys and washed all the linens. They're excited to have babies again.
  10. If you are in the area, you should come to church with us. ( I mean, your church is good for you too, but you're always welcome to visit.)
  11. I felt Baby Smith kick before Breezy. He's quite the little thumper.
  12. His mama scored some major Baby Bedding (crib, changing table and bedding set) at the Ozark Consignment Sale for next to nothing. Seriously, she spent less than $400 for all of the above...unbeatable.
  13. This fact makes his Breezy happy because she was starting to worry that he wouldn't have a place to sleep when he got here.... in December.
And I'm sure there's more but that's all I got.

dear papers

Dear papers that need filing,

I hate you. Please stop multiplying at night when there is no one here to supervise you. Also, if you could train yourself to jump into alpha order when I'm not looking that would be much appreciated. Please don't make me send my two year old with crayons in after you.

in disgust,
meghan

dear pampers

Dear Pampers,

We all know I love your diapers...especially the Swaddlers variety. I also want to thank you for your Gifts to Grow program which rewards me for spending a medium sized fortune on your products since 2008, those 200 free Shutterfly prints and the Dora potty seat are very much appreciated. However, I would like to ask you to refrain from referring to my two-year old as a "preschooler" classification.

sincerely,
mom-in-denial
